It only saves through Auto-Save, and these auto-saves comes in once every 20 minutes or so. The only serious problem I had with the gameplay was the fact that this game has one of the worst save systems of all time. And finally, the game is legimately fun to play there are many goblins and even trolls to stand in your way, and it's satisfying to bring them down. The sound effects and ambiance is okay, and the voice acting is pretty good. As for the audio, the music is solid and sounds very much in line with Howard Shore's movie scores (composer Inon Zur was a perfect fit since this was said of his work before). The only thing that's ugly are some of the mud/dirt and rock textures they pixelate constantly during the action, breaking the immersion. The character models look great and when it rains, the texture on their clothing/armor of the impacting rain-drops is better than most big-budget CG movies, despite happening in real time. As for the graphics, the game is always nice to look at, but some elements certainly outshine others. The characters are reasonably well written, and the twist that kicks off the final act, involving a deal, is surprisingly clever in particular. This introduces a new villain, a new enemy plot, and a somewhat intricate plot of its own it's not on par with the movies, or a more traditional RPG like Final Fantasy, but considering this is an Action RPG as much akin to Dark Alliance, Dungeon Seige or Champions of Norrath, where story is usually very light, the effort they put into the story is certainly commendable. 70% PCWar in the North is a good bit of Lord of the Rings expansion, by and large, playing parallel to the events of the original book/movie series, but a lot more cohesive and original in its take than, say, 'The Third Age', which literally has you following the fellowship, about a mile behind them at all times.
